Compliments on the excellent Viewpoint by Congresswoman Lois Capps (“Legislators must continue to protect California’s natural landscape,” July 21).

Long ago when her husband died, Lois took his place. We are so fortunate to have a “nurse” in office — she protects habitat, supports Planned Parenthood, keeps our coast special, educates congresspeople, conserves public land and even represents Vandenberg Air Force Base so well.

Thanks for all you do, Lois. You have earned your retirement.
