Mike Pence forgot an important group in his acceptance speech

In his acceptance of the Republican vice presidential nomination, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence said, “I am a Christian, conservative and Republican, in that order.”

Did he forget one important group? How about “American”? Where does that fit in his list?
