Democrats have always handled our wars, anyway

Regarding the little fantasy (Letters, “What if Pearl Harbor were attacked today?” June 22), I couldn’t help but notice, one rather glaring omission of fact.

The last, and only, real war in which a Republican administration led our nation was the American Civil War, 1861 to 1865.

And of course, in those days, the Republicans were the progressives.
