SLO County officials, Wonderful Co. must be in denial about the drought
Justin Winery owners Lynda and Stewart Resnick apologized for being “asleep at the wheel” with the clear-cutting of oaks and grading for an agricultural reservoir (“Justin Vineyards owners to donate 380-acre site where oaks were cut down,” June 24).
It appears to me that San Luis Obispo County was also asleep when it permitted construction of this reservoir.
Luckily, the locals weren’t and are aware of the ongoing drought and the lunacy of pumping 6 million gallons of water from an already depleted groundwater source to an evaporative pond.
It appears that county officials are drinking the same drought denial Kool-Aid as the city of San Luis Obispo.
Build, baby, build. Pump, baby, pump.
