Charge tourists for leaving trash on our beaches
Although this Memorial Day was worse than most, there is rarely a weekend that goes by when beach visitors (I bet they are mostly tourists) don’t leave their trash behind.
Here’s an idea. Take the rangers who stand at the entrances to hiking trails, who are ready to hand out tickets to poodles that are leaving only paw prints behind, and move them to beach exits. There, the rangers can hand out tickets to Central Valley residents who are leaving all their garbage on our sands.
