Regarding your story on the beach trash at Avila following Memorial Day (“Trash lines Avila Beach in wake of Memorial Day weekend,” May 31): The little town has been sliding down since the false scare over subterranean oil pollution in the ’90s. Rebuilt, its old charm paved over and outpriced, Avila has the pollution it paid for. But what do I know? I’m old.
