I sat next to Eric Michielssen recently at the San Luis Obispo County Planning Commission hearing on the Phillips 66 proposal for a new spur in Nipomo. He took meticulous notes. Eric recognizes the safety issues and has come out against the Phillips 66 proposal.
I first met Eric over two decades ago when our daughters played soccer. He has been involved in our community, especially North County, since he graduated from Cal Poly, serving on the Atascadero Planning Commission, Association of Realtors and Chamber of Commerce.
Eric recently retired after 17 years as corporate broker and asset manager for Peoples’ Self-Help Housing, a national award-winning nonprofit group developing affordable housing for low-income and special-needs households. Eric managed a portfolio of over 40 properties and 1,500 affordable-housing units. One of his campaign issues is affordable housing for everyone. How many middle-class households can buy a home in this county?
Vote for Eric Michielssen against incumbent Debbie Arnold for the 5th District on June 7. This election matters. Eric has a diverse background and is for finding the common ground, transparency, integrity and solutions for a responsible and accountable county government.
