Do the property rights of a few monied interests override the property rights of an entire community? Incumbent 5th District Supervisor Debbie Arnold seems to think so. Last year, she chose to ignore facts and the will of the community when she voted in favor of a large scale industrial mining proposal outside of Santa Margarita.
Evidence in the record demonstrated no local shortage of aggregate, no guaranteed entitlement, no pre-approval by the state (as the applicant claimed). This would NOT have been a difficult decision for a supervisor that values objectivity, facts and commitment to the communities they represent. Yet rather than verify the accuracy of all available information, Debbie Arnold assumed and maintained the role of cheerleader for the profit for a few individuals over the health, safety and character of an entire community. Objective representation? Leadership?
District 5 deserves an objective voice of reason that will listen to and represent the interests of all county residents, not just those with the deepest pockets. Eric Michielssen is the candidate with the experience and credentials to be such a voice. Help return common sense and integrity to the 5th District by voting for Eric Michielssen for supervisor.
