Disabled veteran supports Salud Carbajal for Congress

When my disability claim got “lost at sea,” Lois Capps’ office nudged the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and my claim was completed properly. Now Rep. Capps has endorsed Salud Carbajal to carry on her work, and I am happy with her choice. Salud is a fellow Marine veteran and I have run into him supporting veterans’ organizations on multiple occasions.

I have been a “client” of the VA since Vietnam and have seen an improvement in the attitude of the doctors, nurses and professionals, especially in the SLO and Santa Maria clinics. I have also seen an increase in the stress levels of the professionals as they try to cope with the increase in need for health and mental health care from our recent wars. My conversations with Salud indicate he understands the VA needs its middle- and upper-management to refocus on the VA’s real job of serving the veterans and, also, that privatizing the VA would only add an unhealthy greed motive to management.

I look forward to Salud Carbajal being our next Congressman and his supporting our veterans nationally as a continuation of the good work he has done locally in the SLO and Santa Barbara areas.
