School unjustified in denying student with tumor from going to prom
Arroyo Grande High School barring Jared Springer from the prom on May 7 is outrageous (“Community helps organize prom for Arroyo Grande senior with brain tumor,” May 11).
If the community of Arroyo Grande isn’t outraged by this act of ignorance, it should be. Mr. Springer was injured, battling cancer and was performing his schoolwork from home. This must have been approved by the school, so barring him was unjustified in my opinion.
The school officials said they were going to make it up to him. They can make it up by asking for the resignation(s) of the responsible party who made this sickening decision.
