In the editorial titled “Grover Beach did the right thing declaring homeless shelter crisis” (March 11), The Tribune discusses an article by Kaytlyn Leslie on the removal of homeless citizens who inhabited a large homeless encampment near the Amtrak station.
The Grover Beach City Council deserves kudos for not only declaring a shelter crisis, but also for finding a way to provide a place for the homeless to live. It’s truly heartwarming to see the City Council helping its citizens in need.
Just because someone is out of a job and can’t provide for themselves doesn’t mean they need to suffer on a bus stop bench during the dead of night, with only the clothes on their back and a piece of cardboard to protect them from the elements.
