Dan Carpenter’s criticism of Adam Hill is a welcome relief

In response to Mike Byrd’s letter regarding the 3rd District supervisory race (“Debbie Peterson would fight for us as SLO County supervisor,” April 14), I must respectfully disagree.

I’m glad The Tribune pointed out that the two front-runners are battling. It’s a relief to see someone like Dan Carpenter calling out Adam Hill on his bullying tactics. How many more years do the citizens of San Luis Obispo County, especially the 3rd District, have to be ashamed of their representative sitting on the dais? Hopefully it’s coming to an end.

Steven Hayward, a Forbes magazine contributor, said this on powerlineblog.com: Adam Hill is “the most appalling local government official I’ve ever seen in my entire life. ... Hill has a spectacular history of astoundingly abusive behavior toward people who express disagreement with him.”

I want someone who will stand up for private property rights and smaller government, someone who understands the serious issues that deserve broad, inclusive discussions in full public view. Dan Carpenter will not shut down public speakers, he will not disrespect other members of the Board of Supervisors and he will listen to all citizens. Dan will bring back civility to the 3rd District. Dan Carpenter has my support!
