Dangers lurk in Elfin Forest
Once a place to leisurely walk and explore nature, the Elfin Forest in Los Osos has become a place of danger to humans and their pets. The following appeared on Facebook recently: "Frightening visit to the Elfin Forest this morning. One day last week when I took my dog for a walk in the Elfin Forest there were 4 coyotes at the end of the sandy path at 13th in the meadow. I decided against my walk. This morning at 7:30 we were out there again, and while I was counting, and had gotten to three coyotes, they started leaping over bushes towards us. I jumped and shouted at them and headed out. They followed. I turned around and repeated several times. They followed until they got to the houses."
It might be wise to visit the area only when carrying pepper spray and a big stick.
