Not even Bernie Sanders would bring the change we need
The presidential campaign is getting more bizarre and tragicomic than ever.
If written as a work of fiction, no publisher would touch it because it would be too unreal, except as a very strange black comedy. Truth indeed really is stranger than fiction. The rest of the world is revolted and blown away but also fascinated, bemused and amazed. They’re laughing at us, in fact, and for good reason. Our whole political, economic and social set of systems has degenerated to the point of overload and failure.
We need to re-create ourselves and undergo a revolutionary transformation, much deeper than even Bernie Sanders envisions. This can only be done by the rank and file of the people rising up, organizing and mobilizing from below, and demanding (and creating) deep-seated change. The power structure that exists, ruled ultimately by the ultra-wealthy plutocratic oligarchy and their political-military servants, cannot and will not do it. Neither will either of the two major political parties, no matter who the candidates are. Something new and powerful and independent must be built, for elections and for ongoing actions in the streets.
