Krauthammer’s words on Sanders are shallow and agenda-driven

Charles Krauthammer’s commentary, “Sanders, the Holocaust and the Jewish Identity,” March 11, is a perfect example of meaningless drivel. He draws conclusions about presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and Jewish identity that are absolutely absurd. While he acknowledges that Sanders’ Judaism is “irrelevant to presidential politics,” it does not stop him from sounding an alarm.

Krauthammer’s concerns? He actually worries that because Sanders referenced the Holocaust as part of his family’s history, Sanders evokes a “martyrdom,” a “victimization” that will inform future generations of Jews to wallow in self-pity. Really?! Of all the possible inferences one could draw from Sanders’ statement about the Holocaust, this is what a nationally syndicated columnist comes up with?

But, given that Krauthammer is also troubled by Sanders’ “sincerity and authenticity,” it is pointless to expect something else from a shallow and agenda-driven perspective.
