Complicated water regulations a symptom of bureaucracy
Frustration reigns. Another endless phone menu and then forms to be completed for insensitive bureaucrats — products of our modern world. We’ve all been there. Maybe those of you who are younger don’t realize it can be different? People were once helpful. You could talk to someone to get things done. But today?
Water regulations (another letter?) require me to document certain information online annually with several agencies. The online forms are complicated (understatement). Surely these forms must fulfill the needs of the bureaucrats who demand that much information. Nonetheless, many of thousands of farmers like me who must complete them get lost. In truth, I don’t even remember my username or password after a year. Also, I wonder if anyone really looks at them. Relatively few bytes of information embedded somewhere on a distant server, but that’s alright … I guess.
Parents always want better for their children. What other treats does this 21st-century world hold for them?
