No other religion has terrorism or treats women as second-class
I am responding to a letter to the editor by Brent Dannells on Feb. 21 (“Christians aren’t always saints”). Brent wants to use the past to justify radical Islam today, but Islam was just as violent as Christianity over 400 years ago.
Muslims conquered Jerusalem and thus precipitated the Crusades by Christians to regain it. Muslims also conquered Portugal and Spain and invaded France but were turned back by Charles Martel, aka “The Hammer.” Had Martel lost the war, all of Europe would have been Muslim and our Western culture would not exist.
The problem today is radical Islam. Islam is still stuck in the 12th century. No other religion has jihad, terrorism, genocide and treats women as second-class citizens. It is time for Islam to modernize as other religions have.
