South County Sanitation District should appreciate John Wallace
John Wallace has been a valuable asset to San Luis Obispo County for more than 35 years. John has provided management/engineering services to many county public agencies have helped them get through droughts, earthquakes and floods with improved infrastructure, sufficient safe water supplies and operational waste-water systems. Where problems have occurred, he has stuck with the tasks and worked through them. I have observed John in divisive board meetings and have seen him listen and respond to opposing points of view without rancor. His Viewpoint in The Tribune (“John Wallace responds to investigator’s charges,” Feb. 5) reflects this same attitude.
When the South County Sanitation District board of directors decided to replace John Wallace with another district manager, they should have expressed appreciation for John’s service. It still isn’t too late. This action would be the best way to conclude this relationship and move forward with the significant management and operational issues at hand.
