Groundwater woes link SLO and Monterey counties
Isn’t it strange that in all of the discussions about the best composition of a body to manage the Paso Robles groundwater basin that none of the proposals have suggested representation from Monterey County? All of the maps published by The Tribune describing the basing show the northern boundary of the San Luis Obispo and Monterey counties.
This is an artificial political boundary and in no way represents the actual physical underground configuration of the basin.
Perhaps if San Luis Obispo County keeps quiet, our wells could suck out all of the water underlying Monterey County for our use. But wait, isn’t it also true that wells in Monterey County could also suck out all the water underlying our county?
