A warning cry: ‘The Trump is coming’

I would ask voters the following questions of Mr. Donald Trump:

Trump has said he will build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. How?

He has said as president he would make more jobs than ever. How?

He has said he would be great for veterans. How?

He has said he would be great for women. How?

He has said he would bring back manufacturing to the United States. How?

Trump can’t fulfill his promises without the approval of Congress, and since that won’t happen, he would have to use executive orders to achieve his political promises — the same use of executive orders he has excoriated President Barack Obama for using.

I had the pleasure of going to college in Iowa and can tell you they are serious-minded and politically well-informed folks who don’t suffer fools lightly. So it is seriously beyond my comprehension how any of these intelligent citizens of the Hawkeye State could have possibly caucused for a man who has publicly called them stupid.

And if Mr. Trump were — God forbid — elected president, I would probably get on a horse and like Paul Revere go racing around San Luis Obispo shouting as loud as I could, “The Trump is coming, the Trump is coming!”

Francis X. Dennen, San Luis Obispo
