Taxpayers shouldn’t pay to fix APCD board
I became quite upset when I read the article in the Jan. 31 Tribune that informed the public that the dysfunctional board of directors of the county Air Pollution Control District agreed to spend $5,000 of the taxpayers’ money to hire a consultant who will try to teach them how to conduct themselves during board meetings.
Each board member is an elected official. Members are on the board representing the communities that elected them. Please note that each city official on the board is paid $100 per meeting for attendance.
If they must hire a facilitator to teach them civil discourse, it seems appropriate that they pay for those services out of their monthly stipends.
