Tiny homes could offer big solution on homelessness

If the city leaders in San Luis Obispo County have not read the Voices article in the Jan. 31 Tribune, “In Portland, tiny homes they can call their own” by Michael J. Totten, perhaps they should.

Civic leaders are up in arms about what to do about the homelessness situation. Thus far, the only solutions are to relocate, pass laws that they cannot avoid transgressing, fine them or arrest them!

Is there some city or county land, somewhere, that those who are willing could try to emulate what is happening in Portland? And maybe having more drop-in centers, where they can get counseling, take showers, wash clothes, etc.? It is as if they are being punished for being homeless and/or mentally ill. Just a thought.
