Cambria theater sets the bar high
This letter is long overdue. I saw “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike,” a play by Christopher Durang, on Nov. 8 at the Cambria Center for the Arts Theatre.
The play won a Tony Award for best play of 2013. It is a wonderful piece. I did not see it in New York, as I moved from the East Coast to Cambria in 2012. I love the theater and miss New York theater a lot. I had tears in my eyes as I watched the aforementioned play on stage here in Cambria. It was simply wonderful. It was the best thing I have seen on stage here. Absolutely the best. The set was gorgeous, the direction was perfect, the costumes spot on and the acting delicious. Nancy Green directed and the cast comprised Oz Barron, Jill Turnbow, Susie Fulton, Wade Tillotson, Priscilla McRoberts and Kathryn Gucik.
The upcoming season at Cambria Center for the Arts Theatre features equally well-crafted plays. “I Hate Hamlet” by Paul Rudnick is first up. “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” certainly raised the bar, and I have every reason to believe the 2016 series will be just as good. So, thank you — thank you to all of you wonderfully talented people.
