This Christmas reached an all-time low

Another Christmas has come and gone with this year’s ads and promotions reaching an all-time low.

Beautiful Christmas carols were reworded with inane product commercials. Christmas traditions were replaced with buy-one-get-one-free campaigns, doorbuster sales and advocacy for neighbor-envy purchases. And there was the sad, notable absence of outdoor nativity scenes, which were replaced by blow-up cartoon characters. I guess the new rules of accepting diversity, tolerating others’ beliefs and goodwill to all do not apply to those practicing traditional Christian Christmas customs.

Also notably absent was a Merry Christmas message atop our Dec. 25, 2015, copy of The Tribune.

On a positive note, the atheists, secular and easily offended or intolerant did not suffer any disturbing vistas, images or messages during this “holiday season.”
