Morro Bay, Los Osos student-musicians were breathtaking
A huge bouquet of thanks goes out to the dedication and talent of our local Morro Bay music teachers; one to Brynn Belyea, the band director, and another to Colleen Wall, the choral director.
In December, the band concert was over the top, and the choral concert (both at the lovely Performing Arts Center at Cal Poly) was absolutely inspired! The talented youths of Morro Bay and Los Osos were breathtaking, and the SLO Youth Symphony was brilliant as they played selections from the Messiah while the combined choirs soared!
When I lived in Southern California, it was a ritual to take friends to The Music Center in Los Angeles to hear Handel’s Messiah with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Perhaps I am not a professional critic, but I deeply appreciate wonderful music! And in my humble opinion, our Morro Bay and Los Osos choral group sounded every bit as good as the so-called professionals.
Their voices rang clear and bright and filled the concert hall with joy and wonder!
Thank you all so much for a wonderful, uplifting event.
