New gun law makes it easier for mass shooters
Of all the ridiculous laws that take effect every year, none is dumber than SB 707, which takes effect in 2016. This law makes it illegal for valid concealed-weapons permit holders to carry guns on college campuses and within 1,000 feet of any K-12 school. This, in essence, ensures that the only guns on these campuses will be in the possession of folks who aren’t planning anything good with them.
There are exceptions for active and retired police officers with proper credentials. However, considering the number of campuses and students at these campuses, these exceptions will provide miniscule to nonexistent protection.
What this law does is signal to those wishing to do harm that it will be safer than ever for them to wreak their carnage on our innocent citizens without fear of resistance. Mass shootings all have something in common, the bad guys were the only ones with guns. This helps keep it that way.
