Thanks from SLO Fire Department
On behalf of the SLO City Fire Department and the community we serve, I would like to publicly thank a couple of individuals/organizations who recently donated their soon-to-be-demolished buildings for SLOFD personnel to train on. Former SLOPD Sgt. and County Supervisor Jerry Lenthall and Eric Newton of California Coastal Investments recently allowed the fire department to destructively train on buildings slated for demolition.
The ability to train in and on actual structures is invaluable and difficult to come by. SLOFD personnel were able to train on the latest developments in structural firefighting tactics and “thru the roof” vertical ventilation techniques on these buildings. Our folks are more competent and will operate more safely because of the generous opportunities you both provided. Thank you!
Jeff Gater, Deputy Fire Chief, San Luis Obispo Fire Department
