We don’t need ISIS, the terrorist group claiming responsibility for the recent atrocities in the Sinai, Beirut and Paris. According to the Office of Public Affairs of the Department of Justice, Americans do a fine job of killing themselves.
In 2014, 40,000-plus died from legal and illegal drug abuse, 38,000-plus from suicides, 25,000-plus gun-related deaths, of which 16,000-plus were homicides. There are still countless thousands more of preventable deaths too numerous to list for this article.
In America, tragedies like the above terrorist acts are a daily occurrence. According to H. Rap Brown of the civil rights movement, “Violence is as American as apple pie.”
