SLO airport has poor service

One disadvantage of this county is inadequate airline service. I thought the ease of getting through the small terminal partially made up for this inconvenience. Recently, I had an experience that changed my mind.

I arrived punctually for my 1:40 p.m. flight. I was to continue to a family celebration. We all planned to meet in Seattle and share a ride to our destination.

Two planes were leaving near the same time, and the security line extended the length of the terminal. When they began boarding our plane, several people tried to get assistance and were told to “just get back in line!”

When I finally got through security, I was “too late to board.” The plane was still parked, doors open and passengers were being loaded. Several of us were rescheduled for 8:30 p.m.! I missed my connection, arrived at 2:30 a.m. in Seattle and had a $100 cab ride to my destination. This could have been avoided had one person thought to allow passengers for the earlier plane ahead in the line!!

This occurred in our small terminal where everyone can see what’s happening. I hate to think what service will be like in a larger terminal.
