Are we becoming a nation of cowards? It appears so, with some two dozen governors saying they will not allow Syrian refugees in their states.
The heart-rending refugee crisis is a result of our destabilizing the Middle East following the invasion of Iraq in 2003, and now many Americans want to disown our responsibilities and hide the welcome mat. This is not only un-Christian, but cowardly.
Paul Krugman’s column (“Point of terrorism is to make us begin fearing fear itself,” Nov. 17) was spot on: The terrorists have achieved their goal, and they are celebrating.
