I enjoyed your article in Insight on Oct. 28 (“Classic lawns lose ground”) about cities, etc., using rebates to move homeowners to remove water-guzzling lawns and replacing them with drought-tolerant landscapes.
We live in San Luis Obispo and find that there is no such incentive here. I guess our City Council plans on us doing the right thing anyhow, as we are. However, I think it might urge more people to do it if the city put forward an incentive. The article states that other cities offer as much as $4 a square foot.
