Sentences for deaths not appropriate

I was dismayed to see the front-page articles on Oct. 28: “Man gets 40 years for killing mother’s boyfriend“ and “Dad gets 15 years in toddler’s death.” A man kills his mother’s abusive boyfriend, and a man kills his defenseless 22-month-old daughter. How is this justice? The sentences should have been reversed.
