eOn behalf of the board of directors of the 5 Cities Homeless Coalition, I would like to extend our heartfelt thank-you to the volunteers and supporters who made the fourth annual “Empty Bowls” event a tremendous success. Once again, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church hosted the event and provided high-energy volunteers with skilled kitchen help!

This event brought together ceramic artists and local schools who donated hundreds of beautifully crafted bowls. The nonprofit group Altrusa stepped up, donating bowls and assisted children in painting the bowls. With the help of local restaurants, community leaders serving soup, members from the faith community and sponsors, we had an outstanding fundraiser. Collectively, 600 people came together to share a simple lunch and show their support for the county’s homeless.

With the help of this community, the 5 Cities Homeless Coalition continues to have success in housing families and addressing the immediate needs of homeless in South County.

Thank you all for helping us make a difference.

Shelly Higginbotham, 5 Cities Homeless Coalition board chair
