Tribune readers speak out about ‘rude’ campaign fliers and ‘delusional’ Democrats | Opinion
‘Insulting’ flier
I have just gotten the most insulting flier on my doorstep from Morro Bay Matters (CAL), suggesting that the group that distributed the “No on A-24” fliers had “bought my vote.” I was opposed to Measure A-24 from the get-go as I believe our city government is much better at deciding for our future than the initiative process. For all the reasons mentioned over and over about the pros and cons of A-24 , I chose no.
Also, no one is trying to confuse anyone. It is clear a no vote will provide a better chance to deal with examining the whole picture as it will keep the decision local.
I’m proud to stand with the good people who oppose A-24.
The quality of literature means nothing to me, and I’m mad as a hornet that Morro Bay Matters (who is CAL, anyway?) would suggest my vote was “bought” by reading it! I made up my mind a long time ago that A-24 wasn’t for me. Vote no and prove to the yes folks we care about our future just as much as they do.

Marx for SLO Council
Jan Marx remains the clear choice for San Luis Obispo City Council. Her deep understanding and extensive experience in local government are more essential now than ever as our city navigates ongoing financial challenges. She has built a strong network that connects key organizations with our community. Jan’s credibility spans across the political spectrum, and her principled approach continues to drive efforts for a better future. She has earned our trust and is more than capable of getting the job done.
Jan’s impressive track record includes securing water from Nacimiento, championing our city’s first inclusionary housing ordinance and overseeing the acquisition of land for the 40 Prado homeless shelter. She consistently leads with civility, never seeking the spotlight, but always getting results. In these challenging times, her steady hand and proven leadership are exactly what our city needs. We can count on her to continue delivering great things for San Luis Obispo.

She trusts Debbie with her checkbook
I have known Debbie Peterson as a neighbor and friend for at least 20 years and I have always found her to be honest, trustworthy and a wise person.
When Debbie Peterson ran for office before for mayor, I stood at the corner of 10th Street and Grand Avenue all day with a “Vote for Debbie Peterson” sign, smiling and waving. Many people pulled over in their cars smiling and told me that they had voted for Debbie.
Everyone I know of in Grover Beach appreciates that Debbie is very qualified and direct. I greatly appreciate a friend and local representative who is not afraid to tell me the truth
I have always known Debbie Peterson to welcome alternative opinions and create warm, caring community relationships.
When people ask me why I voted for Debbie Peterson, our next Grover Beach mayor, I always say, “I trust Debbie with my checkbook!”’

Delusional Democrats
When Bret Baier asked Vice President Kamala Harris to comment on the flood of illegal immigrants who crossed our southern border during the Biden/Harris administration, her response was right out of the Democrat Party political playbook: “But let’s talk about something that is happening right now...”
The single best indicator of future behavior is past behavior, so her role as the border czar in the illegal immigration debacle is more than relevant, it is important. She and the Democrat Party have also implied that the immigration problem could easily be solved if only the evil Republicans led by Donald Trump would pass a new immigration bill. What good would new immigration laws do? Her administration didn’t enforce the ones in existence. Only in a delusional world is it believable that an administration/political party that did everything in its power to thwart existing immigration laws is now champing at the bit to enact and enforce more stringent immigration laws. The Harris/Walz presidential campaign, the Democrat Party and the mainstream media monopolize that delusional world.
