Wild turkeys are a blessing — Tribune’s negative piece was a fowl call
It is dismaying to see space in The Tribune devoted to complaints about the wild turkeys who for a full year have been blessing the house owners of north Morro Bay. They live in the hill to the north and come down to clean up our debris. Occasionally they eat a plant we had not designed for their consumption, but that is a small price to pay for their company. They give great joy to everyone I know.
No resident objects, although a few months ago a car full of pot smoking teenage males ran backwards at full speed, scattering but not hitting any of them. That was heart-sickening to watch. Now it is saddening to see The Tribune publish a piece designed to stir up trouble and probably lead to the slaughter of the turkeys. The reporter should have talked to more local residents before rushing into print.
He got a conspicuous publication in the newspaper but he may cost us one of the deep pleasures of living in North Morro Bay.
