Failure to evacuate children should be a felony

It is evident from the mudslide in Montecito that there is some confusion as to what an evacuation is. Whether it is mandatory or voluntary, an evacuation is an evacuation, and those with children under the age of 18 should be required by law to remove those children from the endangered area.

No one has the right to endanger the life of a child, and it appears some don’t understand that, so it’s time we write another law to protect our children.

During a called evacuation, all children under the age of 18 must be removed from the endangered area. Refusal should be a felony crime.
