Board of Supervisors Chairman Peschong failed to do his job
The article in Wednesday’s Tribune regarding the actions of the Board of Supervisors really made me angry. It is the job of the chairman of the board to see to it that the board meetings are conducted in a rational and civil manner. This includes comments made by members of the public.
People have the absolute right, guaranteed under the First Amendment to the Constitution, of free speech, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances. However, it is the responsibility of the board chair to see to it that those comments are made in a civil manner. Personal comments against an individual member of the board or a member of the public should be anathema, regardless of who comments.
I did it, and I was an old lady, even then!
