Thanks to Good Samaritan who helped stalled car on Madonna Road
On a recent evening, after mailing a package from the Dalidio post office, shortly before closing time, I felt my trusty Toyota stuttering to a halt in rush-hour traffic in the center lane of Madonna Road – too rattled by this scary situation to even remember how to turn on my hazard lights. To the young man who, emerging from “nowhere” in the darkness, appeared at my window, reminded me where my hazard switch was, offered me a “spark” (which unfortunately couldn’t restart the car) and then pushed it through the intersection to the safety of the Madonna Inn parking lot, my heart-felt thanks!
I had been listening to the news when I stalled, and the contrast between its disheartening nastiness and this sudden materializing of human kindness and competence, in the midst of crisis, was a true revelation. A reminder that angels and bodhisattvas are always among us and that we should be ever mindful of their example and grateful for their help. Thank you. Thank you!
