Letters to the Editor

Letter writer fueling anger and hatred

There was a recent Letter to the Editor (“Media ‘sacrificed’ Matt Lauer to get to Trump”) that was so offensive, it seems the writer’s only point was to fuel anger and hatred.

He feels that all of the women who have recently come forward with allegations of being raped deserved what they got because “sexual misconduct has been used by women to manipulate men in power from time immemorial.” Just take a moment to let that thought process sink in. Does this “sexual-free-for-all” reasoning apply to the children who were assaulted as well?

To those on the left, don’t take the bait since your anger fuels this type of rhetoric. But for reasonable people on the right, your silence condones this type of extremism and allows hateful thoughts to define your politics.

It’s polarizing and is the reason some of your friends and family members want to avoid visiting with you this holiday season. Talking politics is difficult. Debating hatred is impossible.
