To appreciate the importance this country assigns to the act of being elected as the representative of a certain group of people, those concerned about the possible election of Mr. Roy Moore to the U.S. House of Representatives should review the 1950s discussions around the seating of another supposed rogue, Rep. Adam Clayton Powell.
