Timing of accusations against Roy Moore is questionable, letter writer says
Whether or not Roy Moore is guilty as charged, his accusers lack credibility. Three of them said Moore “pursued romantic relationships” with them, which could mean anything, while former news editor Bill Still says in an interview the stepson of one accuser says he distrusts her charges.
Two others, aged 14 and 16, accused him of molesting them, which of course could be true, but if so, why did they wait 40 years to report it?
Why are we just now hearing such damning allegations against a man who’s been a target of both parties for decades? Republicans have tried to yank him off the stage, and Democrats hate him with the fire of a thousand suns. So why has the Washington Post just come out with this damning information? As with Donald Trump, they’ve thrown everything at Roy Moore, from financial arrangements to mental instability, but nothing has stuck. Now we’re to believe it was “common knowledge” in Alabama that he was a child molester?
The Washington Post hates Roy Moore. They mistreated him in the past and portrayed his positions as politically vulgar, while Alabamans viewed them as a courageous defense of their liberties and their culture. If the rest of us are to believe this man sexually molested teenagers, which may never be proven, we’ll not only have to consider the source, but also the impeccable timing.
