Rest in peace, Arroyo Grande fox
Adios, Foxy. On a recent slow jog just south of the Arroyo Grande park with my trusted Chihuahua, Gracie, we were startled by the darndest encounter. A small, gray fox ambled up and assumed a very submissive, friendly posture.
Gracie, being timid, just stared, as did I. Holy cow! What a rarity. It emitted an other worldly quiet cooing. After a bit we moved on, me with a wide smile, and it followed at a short distance. Then with amazing agility it bounded up a tree to the tallest branches.
After sharing the tale with friends and family I received a text later that it had been euthanized. Vulgar, unprintable bellowing followed. I get it. It was the “humane” thing. I’m sure a zoo was considered?
Rest in peace, little one. It was a delight crossing paths with you.
