Cleanup of ‘Watermelon Rock’ a waste of resources

A rock along Bishop Peak trail in San Luis Obispo has been transformed into a slice of watermelon. The city is calling it a crime, possibly a felony.

Why should SLO waste city resources on “cleaning up” the watermelon rock shown in the Nov. 7 Tribune? It harmed no one.

Did any citizens complain about it? And when they restored it, did they carefully replace whatever mold and dirt previously adorned the rock? I’m sure there were better uses for the supplies and manpower required to handle this.
