There is a party that protects the little guy. Hint: It’s not Republicans

Raymond Porter says in his Sept. 28 letter that neither major political party is for the little guy. Mr. Porter, which political party has long supported increasing the minimum wage to help those at the bottom of the income ladder?

Which political party was responsible for establishing the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which has saved little guys and gals many millions of dollars? Which political party favors the fiduciary rule, which requires investment advisers to act in their clients’ best interests?

Which political party proposed changing overtime work rules so that more non-managerial employees would be eligible for extra pay? And which political party is against eliminating both the estate tax, paid by only a couple of thousand wealthy people each year, and the alternative minimum tax, which in 2005 caused Mr. Trump to pay about $30 million in taxes rather than almost nothing?

Hint: The answer to all these questions is the same, and it is not Republican.
