Mr. President, stop insulting Sen. John McCain

Hello President Trump:

Please do not say another derogatory word about Sen. John McCain. When you commented about Sen. McCain, saying “He’s not a war hero … He’s a war hero ‘cause he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured, OK?” perhaps you did not know that he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and became a Navy fighter pilot. Perhaps you did not know that during the Vietnam War he flew 23 missions and was shot down over Vietnam and, as he ejected from the plane, he fractured both arms and a leg. Perhaps you did not know that when the North Vietnamese captured him they crushed his shoulder with a rifle butt and bayoneted him.

It’s possible you did not know he was a prisoner of war for 5 1/2 years and at times was bound and beaten every two hours, tortured and put in solitary confinement for two years and heroically refused Vietnam’s early repatriation offer.

His numerous military decorations and awards include the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and a Prisoner of War Medal.

As you have not served your country in any branch of the military, please give Sen. McCain all the respect you can find in your soul.
