The public comment period for the Department of the Interior’s review of certain national monuments, ordered by President Donald Trump, has closed. More than 1.4 million comments were received including more than 50,000 comments on the Carrizo Plain National Monument. The public response has been overwhelmingly in favor of protecting these national treasures.
But Supervisor Debbie Arnold, in whose district the Carrizo Plain National Monument is located, has been oddly silent. What gives, Ms. Arnold? Do you agree with the public, local businesses, chambers of commerce, and other elected officials in supporting the Carrizo Plain National Monument, or are you opposed? Your constituents and the people of San Luis Obispo County deserve to know your position.
