Letters to the Editor

We’re waiting: When will ‘trickle down’ economics start working?

I have a question for any of my very conservative friends.

The “trickle down” theory of economics seriously began in the 1980s. The theory is that by giving tax breaks to the “job creators,” businesses would expand and there would be more jobs. Starting from 1980, that was 37 years ago. We are now in an era where even greater tax breaks will be going to the wealthy in sort of a reverse Robin Hood maneuver. That is, taking from the poor and giving to the rich.

My question, therefore, is in what decade will the boats of those of us at the bottom of the economic ladder begin to rise? In all politeness and civility, we would really like some sort of an answer.
