People must protect California, other states from new federal idiocy

Bill Craig is right when he says the vocal majority has to learn to deal with the Donald Trump “victory,” (“Quit whining and get over it, libs,” Nov. 12). As the editorial from The Sacramento Bee (“Forget #Calexit. Just defend Calif. from Trump”) on the same day stated, it is time for Californians and other “nonhaters” to come together and use our intelligence, innovations and wealth not to secede from the union, but demonstrate to the “white power “ flyover crowd that they were wrong in their decision. We have the progressive, rugged individualism lacking in the Trump supporters who need to crawl to his hatred for protection.

As we’re also supplying a history lesson to college students, let it be known that George H.W. Bush negotiated NAFTA, and more Republicans than Democrats voted for it in Congress. As far as President Barack Obama bringing the economy back from the brink of the Republican-caused economic depression, Bill is correct: Obama is to be praised for that.

Let us get together as progressives to buffer California and fellow blue states from the new federal idiocy like the moronic promise to bring back long-dead coal and steel jobs to the Rust Belt. Let’s keep California great and avoid the economic disaster that will beset those following the new administration.
