Schools are a priority; vote ‘yes’ on Measure I for Lucia Mar district

We are homeowners in Lucia Mar Unified School District who became friends as our children were educated in our schools. The majority of these students graduated from high school in June 2016, having met as kindergarteners at Harloe Elementary. The educational experience for our students was excellent; the facilities where they attended classes have been in desperate need of repair, renovation and modernization since their first day of school. This situation exists in virtually all of the 18 schools in LMUSD, which serves almost 11,000 students.

Measure I is a facilities bond that will ensure that schools with decaying infrastructure will be repaired; portables which have far exceeded their intended life span will be replaced with permanent structures; deteriorating roofs, plumbing and electrical systems will be repaired.

We wholeheartedly support Measure I because not only do we want current students to get the excellent education our kids did, but we want them to attend schools that don’t look like they belong in a third-world country. We know that good schools are a priority for homebuyers and having quality schools will maintain or increase our home values. We urge you to vote “Yes” on Measure I.
