Trump’s economic plans should be main takeaway from first debate

Although largely ignored by the news media, this was the salient point of the first presidential debate Sept. 26. Hillary Clinton pointed out that Donald Trump plans to reintroduce the exact same tax and economic policies that put us down the toilet eight years ago and, to make sure those policies have free reign, he also wants to repeal the Dodd-Frank Act. That’s what all those alienated middle- and working-class Republicans who’ve been supporting him should be paying attention to. Who do they think will be the first people to lose their jobs, or homes, and/or otherwise be harmed when the inevitable meltdown recurs?

We just learned of another huge banking scandal recently at Wells Fargo. One that we probably wouldn’t have even known about except for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a creation of Dodd-Frank.

Trump didn’t even try to deny it, just reiterated that tired old conservative mantra: It’ll work this time. The definition of insanity, often attributed to Albert Einstein, is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
